TaxJet LLC (“TaxJet,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a U.S. international tax preparation and advisory firm registered in the State of Washington. Our principal place of business is Washington State.
We provide U.S. federal and state tax preparation, FBAR compliance, W-8BEN advisory services, and related international tax services to individuals and entities worldwide.

2. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to:

All clients and prospective clients who engage our services

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

4.4 Marketing (Limited, Consent Required)
Federal law under IRC §7216 strictly limits our ability to use your tax return information for marketing. We may use your name and contact information to send you general tax education materials and information about our services without your consent. We will not use your specific tax return information for any marketing purpose without your explicit written consent.
You may opt out of non-essential communications at any time by emailing privacy@taxjet.co.
5. IRC §7216: Federal Tax Preparer Confidentiality
As a tax return preparer, we are subject to Internal Revenue Code §7216 and Treasury Regulation §301.7216, which impose strict federal criminal and civil penalties for unauthorized disclosure or use of your tax return information.
What this means for you:
We are prohibited from disclosing your tax return information to any third party without your consent, except as expressly permitted by law.
We may not use your tax return information to market non-tax services to you without your prior written consent.
Violations of §7216 are federal crimes subject to fines of up to $1,000 and imprisonment of up to one year per violation, plus civil penalties of $250 per unauthorized disclosure under §6713.
Permitted disclosures without your consent (under Treas. Reg. §301.7216-2) include:
Disclosure to the IRS or state tax authorities
Disclosure pursuant to a valid court order or subpoena
Disclosure to our contractors who assist in return preparation (bound by confidentiality)
Disclosure to our attorney for legal advice
Disclosure to you or your authorized representative
Quality or peer review of our work (reviewers are bound by the same confidentiality rules)
Any other disclosure requires your signed consent. We will never condition your engagement of our services on your consent to any non-required disclosure.
6. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with advertisers. We share your information only in the following circumstances:

All U.S.-based providers are subject to U.S. law. Where providers process data internationally, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent transfer mechanisms.
6.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information when required by law, court order, or valid legal process. Where permitted by law, we will notify you before making such a disclosure.
6.3 Government Contracting
If TaxJet provides services under a federal, state, or local government contract, we comply with all applicable government data handling requirements, including but not limited to FAR clauses governing contractor data, applicable agency-specific privacy requirements, and the Privacy Act of 1974 where applicable. Government agency clients will be provided with supplementary data handling terms as required by their contract.
6.4 Business Transfer
In the event of a sale, merger, or transfer of our business, client information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the confidentiality requirements of IRC §7216, which require a written confidentiality agreement prohibiting the buyer from using client information for any purpose other than evaluating the purchase prior to closing.
7. International Data Transfers and GDPR
7.1 International Clients
TaxJet serves clients located worldwide. If you are located outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. U.S. privacy law differs from the laws of your home country. By engaging our services, you acknowledge this transfer.
7.2 European Union and United Kingdom Clients (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, the following applies:

Legal obligation: processing required by IRS regulations, FBAR requirements, and applicable law
Legitimate interests: limited processing for business operations, fraud prevention, and service improvement

8. U.S. State Privacy Rights
Residents of certain U.S. states have additional rights under their state privacy laws. As of the effective date of this Policy, the following states have enacted comprehensive privacy laws that may apply: California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), Texas (TDPSA), Florida (FDBR), Oregon (OCPA), Montana (MCDPA), Washington (MYWPA), and others.
Generally, these laws provide you with rights to:

Note on exemptions: Many state privacy laws include exemptions for information regulated by federal financial privacy laws or information collected in the context of professional tax services. We will respond to all privacy rights requests in good faith and notify you of any applicable exemptions.
To submit a privacy rights request, email privacy@taxjet.co with your name, state of residence, and the right you wish to exercise. We will respond within 45 days as required by most state laws.
9. Cookies and Tracking
Essential cookies: Required for the website to function. Cannot be disabled.
Analytics cookies: Google Analytics 4, used to understand how visitors use our site. We have configured GA4 to anonymize IP addresses. You may opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used on taxjet.co. We do not allow advertisers to track visitors to our site.
You may control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies may affect website functionality.
10. Data Security
Technical safeguards:
All data transmitted to and from taxjet.co is encrypted using TLS/SSL
Client documents are stored in Google Drive with restricted access controls
Two-factor authentication is required for all accounts with access to client data
Payment information is processed by Stripe and is never stored on our servers
Administrative safeguards:
Access to client information is limited to personnel who need it to perform their work
All contractors and service providers with access to client data are bound by confidentiality agreements
We conduct periodic reviews of our data handling practices
Physical safeguards:
Client documents are not stored in paper form except as temporarily necessary for work in progress
Physical devices with access to client data are secured and encrypted
Breach notification: In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law, including applicable state breach notification laws and, where applicable, GDPR Article 33/34 requirements.

12. Children’s Privacy
Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a child’s information is included in a family tax return, that information is handled solely for the purpose of preparing that return and is protected under the same policies described here.

Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Policy on taxjet.co with a new “Last Updated” date, and sending an email notification to active clients.
Your continued use of our services after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
