Meet the Cast
Every story starts from something real: a situation that came up in practice.
Falco
Kree’s oldest friend, and the world is smaller with him in it. Made his fortune, then chose the world over a mansion. Boba tea is his drink of choice.
Kree
Left the corporate grind for a hut on a Thai island. Built a nomad life that feels free. Freedom turned out to come with paperwork.
Ida
Forty years of this, and nothing surprises her. She is the reason everyone in this cast eventually knows each other.
Portrait to come
Faye
Kree’s sister. 183 days a year in New York earning enough to fund the rest of it.
Portrait to come
Van
Queenie’s doting husband and highly compensated software engineer in big tech. They met abroad, then moved to the US when the job offer was too good to pass up. Taxes make him cringe.

Queenie
Stood beside Van as his career launched them into a very high tax bracket, and still wants to trade it all for the simple life she gave up abroad.
Portrait to come
Makeda
Ethiopian-American food creator, huge following. Something keeps pulling her toward a country she has never actually lived in.
Portrait to come
Eleanor
Kree’s friend, still stateside. Wants out badly enough to keep almost starting the business that would get her there.

Sal
Gives you confident advice you didn’t ask for. He is always sure. He is often wrong.
Why we do it this way
We created them because tax law is complicated enough without making it feel cold and impersonal. The characters make it easier to see yourself in a situation before you have to admit you are already in it. They ask the questions you might be afraid to ask. They make the mistakes that are easier to read about when they happen to someone else.
If a situation in one of our posts sounds familiar, that is not a coincidence. It is the point.
The characters are fiction. The tax situations are not.
